Primary Function

Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management on construction project site. Schedule, coordinate and supervise craft employee activities. May involve supervising on or more trade groups (electricians, boilermakers, carpenters, etc.) working in particular construction discipline (civil, structural, electrical).

Typical Duties

  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc.

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).

  • Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.

  • May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.

  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.

  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.

  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirments, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.

  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.

  • Perform additional assignments per Supervisor's direction.

Requirements

  • Educational and experience requirements include:  4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.  Minimum of eight years construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost controls,  schedules and safety required.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential.

  • Some travel will be required. Almost all Setterlin projects are located within central and southern Ohio.
  • Must have a consistent employment history, demonstrating loyalty and commitment.
