| Join R.W. Setterlin Building Company and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank the week of September 22nd-September 26th in collecting canned food items for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. As part of week leading up to the big rivalry games, bring in as many canned food items as possible to ensure your school is the winner. The winners will be announced at Crew Stadium during the games on September 26th. The participating high schools are: Olentangy High School vs. Olentangy Liberty High School Olentangy Orange High School vs. New Albany High School The Mid-Ohio Foodbank appreciates all items you can bring; however, the following items cannot be accepted by the food bank: - Homemade Items - Home Canned Items - Items Past Expiration Why The Mid-Ohio Foodbank? - From 1997 to 2007 the need for food at Central Ohio Shelters has increased by 77%. - In 2007, 29,509,046 pounds of food were distributed. A 97% increase from 1997. - Food deliveries have increased 703% since 1997. Who Does the Mid-Ohio Foodbank Benefit? - The average household income for someone visiting a pantry is $780/month. - Only 8% of those who visit the pantries receive government welfare assistance. - 4 out of 5 visitors earn less than the official poverty wage. - 38% of those who are helped by pantries are children under the age of 18.
